I am 23 years old and have had hyperhidrosis since I was in the 5th grade. My family thought I was crazy and thought it was just a phase. All kids would ask me why my hands were wet. I didn’t have many friends because people thought something was wrong with me. Now being older I have struggled to wear sandals because I’m always slipping around and I struggle to go to interviews because the fear of shaking hands. I wear socks to bed every night because I can’t fall asleep when my feet are dripping in sweat. I am 3 months away from becoming an RN and I know that I cannot become one with having wet hands consistently every day. Trying to put gloves on when your hand are soaked is impossible. I just want to be a great nurse and want to be normal. I want to feel confident in myself and help my anxiety. I just want to be heard and I want it to go away.
